Snacks

                                      Snack

Each day your child will have the opportunity to eat healthy snacks from home during recess. We ask that you provide a small healthy snack for Kindergarten students each day.  Please refrain from sending sugary foods. Your child will have about 5-10 minutes to eat their snack, please make sure the snacks are ready to eat. Snacks that have nutritional value will help provide the energy your child needs to stay alert and focused throughout the day. Here are some ideas for quick, healthy snacks:

• Light popcorn
• Granola bars
• Fruit bars e.g. Fig Newtons and Raisin Biscuits
• Frozen grapes
• Turkey rolls with cream cheese
• Fruit
• Veggies
• Celery sticks with cream cheese
• Pretzels
• Whole grain crackers with cheese

For more wonderful ideas, go to  Healthy School Snacks. You can also do a google search for healthy snacks. There are lots and lots to choose from. Include your child in the selection process. It will be more exciting for them to eat when they’re part of the process.

Snacks should be in a small Ziploc bag or Tupperware type container with your child's name.  Please do not send in lunch boxes. If your child goes to day care after school, please make sure their snack is packed separately and not in their day care lunch box.

We do have students with serious peanut allergies so for the safety of these children, please avoid using products containing peanuts or peanut butter, or products manufactured in a plant using nuts.  Thank You.
