Interim Principal and AP

Don Loflin, Interim Principal

I am so excited to come out of retirement and have the opportunity to work at such an outstanding school.  Coyote Creek has an amazing staff and the students have been so welcoming.  I look forward to getting to know the children on a more personal level over the next few months.  I have been in the field of education for over thirty-seven years.  I was an administrator for twenty years and a classroom teacher for seventeen years.

Outside of the school setting I enjoy spending time with my family.  My wife is also passionate about the field of education, and she is the principal of Quail Run Elementary in San Ramon.  We have two children, a daughter, who recently graduated from UC Santa Cruz, and a son, who is a freshman at UC Berkeley.  We also have a loyal beagle, who will do anything for food!  In my spare time I am a musician with the Chico Bavarian Band-I play the trumpet.  I also enjoy skiing (when there is snow!), working-out, watching movies, and traveling the globe.  This past summer our family enjoyed a trip to Israel, Amman, Jordan, and Petra-it was an incredible experience.

I look forward to the opportunity to meet many of you at PTA meetings or at various family events.  Again, it is my distinct pleasure to be the acting principal at Coyote Creek School.

Bill Alpert, Assistant Principal

I’m currently in my third year as the assistant principal at Coyote Creek. Before my tenure at Coyote Creek I worked as a Teacher on Special Assignment (TSA) at Holbrook Elementary in Concord, CA. At Holbrook I taught several intervention classes to third, fourth, and fifth graders, set up a noon-league sports program, and did various administrative duties. Prior to my TSA position, I was a first and third grade classroom teacher for ten years at Mountain View Elementary in Concord, CA.

I was originally born in Pittsburgh, PA, and resided there until five years of age. My family moved to Atlanta, GA where I attended kindergarten through third grade. In fourth grade we moved to Walnut Creek, CA, and I have lived in Northern California ever since. I attended Walnut Acres Elementary, Foothill Intermediate, and Northgate High School. I furthered my education at UC Davis and graduated with a BA in History in 1991. I went back to school to obtain my teaching credential at Sierra Nevada College in Incline Village, NV, and began teaching in 1996. My administrative certification was done through Cal State East Bay.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my wife Sarah, my two children Wesley (8) and Ella (6), and my dog Daisy. I am an avid snowboarder, play on an indoor soccer team, and enjoy reading, movies, music, eating sushi, and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers.
