Kindergarten BIO

Kathleen Burdine

I graduated from Sonoma State University with a BA in Liberal Studies. I earned my multiple subject teaching credential from St. Mary's College of California. I am thrilled that this is my eighth year at Coyote Creek! I taught second grade for six years and this is my second year in Kindergarten! I have also served as a Master Teacher for a Teaching Credential Candidate at St. Mary's College. In addition I have completed several professional development courses through the University of the Pacific & SRVUSD.

My husband and I have two daughters, a four year old and an 18 month old. We enjoy spending our free time with them! I love teaching Kindergarten grade and look forward to another great year!

I am thrilled to be starting my seventh year of teaching Kindergarten at Coyote Creek. I have been involved with the highly regarded SRVUSD for many, many years; first as a parent, then as a teacher aide and as a substitute teacher.

I am originally from Australia, but I spent 14 years in Tokyo, Japan and 7 years in Honolulu, Hawaii, where I met my husband. I received my BA in Asian Studies from Sophia University, Tokyo, my MBA from the University of Hawaii and my Teaching Credential from Cal State Hayward. My husband is a CPA and is Japanese American, (which helps explain my last name). We have three children: our two sons have now graduated from college and are working in Silicon Valley and my daughter is a Senior at UC Berkeley.
My favorite hobby is international travel and I have a very keen interest in multicultural learning and activities. I have spent past summers teaching in Kyushu, Japan, Chiang Mai, Thailand and, outside of Bangalore, India.  This past summer I was in Laos and spent some time observing primary education there also. I have always found the international flavor of Coyote Creek Elementary School very enriching and right “up my alley”.
I love teaching Kindergarten! Every day, I look forward to seeing bright, happy children enter my classroom, eager to learn and build new friendships.

I joined the Coyote Creek staff in 2003 and have taught kindergarten for the last seven  years. I received my Bachelor's Degree at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in Social Science and got my teaching credential from Saint Mary's College in Moraga.

I have lived in the San Ramon Valley for most of my life. I currently reside in Danville with my husband John, and three teenage  children.

I enjoy spending time with my family, going to sporting events, golfing, shopping and spending time at our cabin in Johnsville.

I am so thrilled to be a member of the Coyote Creek pack and feel very fortunate to be working in this wonderful community.

This is my sixth year teaching at Coyote Creek.  During the last five years I have taught kindergarten and kindergarten/1st grade combination classes. What I hope to pass on to my students is the love of learning and caring for others that will help them throughout their school career. Every day is exciting and full of new concepts or skills to learn.
I received my B.S. degree at Arizona State University and my teaching credential from Chapman University. My first career was in the Information Systems industry doing systems implementations and project management.  When my children were young, I decided to stay home for a few years to take care of them and I volunteered much of my time at their schools. This is where I found my passion for teaching.  With the encouragement of my children’s teachers to become a teacher, I decided to change careers and go into teaching.  While I went back to school to get my teaching credential, I volunteered and substituted primarily in kindergarten and first grade classes in this district, learning from the best in preparation to teach my own kindergarten class. I love working with children knowing that I can make a difference in their lives.
My husband and I have lived in Danville for 18 years and we have 2 terrific sons.  Nathan is a senior and Nicholas is a freshman at San Ramon High School. They both keep us very busy with their school, scouts and sports activities.  I have been very involved in the San Ramon Unified School District for many years as a parent, a volunteer, and a teacher.  I love to spend time my spare time with my family, reading, doing jigsaw puzzles, going to the movies, and going on trips.
I am looking forward to a fabulous year at Coyote Creek full of adventure and learning.

Kathleen Tebbutt

I was born and raised here in the San Ramon Valley. I have always enjoyed working with children and was inspired to become a teacher through my own teachers that significantly touched my life.

I enjoy traveling, going on walks in the park and spending quality time with friends and family. I am very happy to be a part of the Coyote Creek family!
